York Neighborhood

YorkHere's one of the city's oldest, most historic neighborhoods. Though a few homes have been built more recently, most of the houses were new between 1890 and 1910, and some were built as early as 1889. In keeping with that era, houses are typically small, on modestly sized lots.

Young families appreciate the York neighborhood's affordability and their proximity to the downtown core. Becides the central location, other attractions include Rock Hill Park by Lakeway Drive and Iron Street and Franklin Park at the corner of Whatcom and Franklin streets. Nelson's Market, at the corner of Humbolt and Potter streets, is one of the nieghborhood's landmarks and traditional meeting places.
